Octavio is originally from the country of Colombia and currently a 2nd year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) with an interest in adult clinical neuropsychology, specifically in the areas of executive functions and cross-cultural neuropsychology. He is part of a vertical team specialized in anxiety disorder and conducts neuropsychological reassessments at the UWM Learning Disability Specialty Clinic. He is also a member of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology Student Advocacy Committee, the APAGS Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs, and the UWM chapter of the Association of Neuropsychology Students in Training.

Daria is currently the Past-Chair of the D52 Student Committee. She is also the D52 Student Representative to APAGS, the webmaster for the D52 student website, and the coordinator for the Student Column in the International Psychology Bulletin. Daria is a 5th year student in the PhD Clinical Psychology program at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in San Francisco. She is spending this academic year in St. Petersburg, Russia collecting data for her dissertation on the effects of traditional gender role endorsement on people's perceptions of sexual assault of women.

Laura Reid-Marks is currently the Chair of the D52 Student Committee. Laura is a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Purdue University. Laura is originally from Kingston, Jamaica. She is involved with APA and is a member of the APAGS Convention Committee. Laura's research interests focus on the career development process of culturally diverse individuals and mental health disparities in international populations

Ashley N. Hutchison became involved in the Division 52 as a member-at-large at the beginning of 2011. She is a Ph.D. student in Counseling Psychology at Ball State University, located in Muncie, IN. Currently, Ashley is completing her internship at the University of Utah Counseling Center. Her clinical interests are in working with international students and college students with a wide range of presenting concerns. Ashley's research interests focus broadly on international psychology in a counseling context, and more specifically on how non-Western individuals experience and express emotion. Her doctoral dissertation work is in the area of counseling trainees' ability to accurately identify facial expressions of emotion from a range of cultures.

Yuki Shigemoto

Yuki Shigemoto is working with Laura Reid-Marks on the Campus Representatives Program for D52. He is an international student from Japan, and he received his MA in applied clinical psychology from Penn State Harrisburg. He worked at the counseling center in Pennsylvania as an outpatient therapist for a year. Now he is a PhD student in Counseling Psychology at Texas Tech University. His research interest includes resilience after disaster/trauma, posttraumatic growth, positive psychology, and the acculturation processes of international students. He was an intern of APA at the United Nations, and he received a certificate in Post Disaster Humanitarian Outreach from the the Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention.

Valerie Wai-Yee Jackson, MPH is currently the Chair-Elect of the D52 Student Committee. She is also a Campus Representative for Division 45 of the APA. Valerie received her MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University and is currently a 3rd year PhD student in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in San Francisco. Her clinical and research interests include mental illness stigma and barriers to care in immigrant and international populations.

Valerie Wai-Yee Jackson

Preet is a masters level student in counseling psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington, DC. She is originally from Malaysia but has also lived in India, Canada and New Zealand. From these cross-cultural experiences, she has developed a keen interest in international psychology and its applications within the counseling context. She has also had a high level of exposure to crisis intervention and has spent some time in Northern Thailand serving HIV/AIDS adults and orphaned children. In light of the recent shootings at the Sikh temple, she is working closely with a team for the Sikh Healing Collective to develop psychoeducational material to address the mental health needs of the Sikh community in Oak Creek.

Hillary is a third year Clinical Psychology (PsyD) student at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Argosy University – Chicago (ISPP). Prior to her enrollment at ISPP, Hillary worked in Morocco, Sudan and Kenya in various capacities. Her clinical and research interests are in striving to provide culturally competent mental health care and to expand mental health services in low income and poorly resourced areas; and in advocating for mental health and human rights internationally. Her doctoral dissertation focuses on identifying coping strategies being used among primary care patients in an urban, low-income area in Afghanistan.

Stefanie Hoefer is originally from Germany. She is currently in her last semester of her MA in general psychology at Pace University in New York City. She was born in Germany and moved back and forth between Germany and America until she went to high school in Poland. Then she moved to California to start her undergraduate at USD and transferred to Pace her second year to finish, where she enrolled in a BA/MA combined program for general psychology. She is interested in cross-cultural psychology, sport psychology, neuropsychology, and social psychology.

Joe is a 3rd-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program at Fordham University in New York, NY. He holds a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the former President of the Fordham Psi Chi Chapter and is currently the Vice President. His professional interests include multiculturalism, health psychology, and global psychology. Joe is currently conducting obesity-related research. He is investigating the effects of weight discrimination and stigma on surgery outcome among post-operative weight loss surgery patients. Joe speaks Spanish and is currently learning Indonesian.
